Donald Trump's tweet about the missile strikes in Syria on April 13 conjure up memories of George Bush's empty "Mission Accomplish" declaration onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003.
Obviously, the United States has been in Iraq and Afghanistan since accomplishing its mission, which apparently was ensuring Bush safely reached the helicopter pad aboard the ship.
Trump, the Mango Mussolini, made a similar declaration on Saturday.
A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 14, 2018
But, like Trump's 2017 strikes in Syria, the latest missiles were nothing more than a smokescreen.
Back in 2017, Trump talked tough and followed through by dropping bombs on the Shayrat airbase in Syria.
His supporters praised Trump for being the tough leader they felt Obama wasn't. Yet, what they didn't realize is Trump's airstrikes were nothing more than the United States burning money.
The US Navy fired 59 missiles at the base at a cost of millions and millions of dollars to the United States taxpayer, only to have Syrian fighter jets take off from the base hours later.
The missile strikes, according to The New York Times, struck targets pretty much useless to the Syrian government, and that was by design:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London based monitoring group which uses sources on the ground to keep track of events in the country, said that Syrian army jets had taken off from the base to carry out strikes on rebel-held areas near Homs.Trump's most recent strikes also will likely prove to be have been nothing more than a show of might, such as when a bully kicks sand in the face of a sunbather on the beach.
The missile strikes, according to The New York Times, struck targets pretty much useless to the Syrian government, and that was by design:
For all of Mr. Trump’s tough language this week, the variant he chose made no apparent effort to damage Mr. Assad’s broader war machine or his government’s command and control of its forces beyond its chemical weapons. The one-night burst of ordnance appears unlikely to change the overall balance of forces in Syria seven years into its bloody civil war. But the president hoped it would be enough to deter Mr. Assad from using chemical weapons again without being so damaging as to compel Russia and Iran to intervene.
Did the 2017 strikes deter Assad from using chemical weapons? No.
What the 2018 strikes did accomplish is the national news is now filled with another Trump blunder, but this one doesn't include paying off porn stars, colluding with Russia or teaming up with a GOP fundraiser who paid for an abortion.
Yes, now we'll talk of Syria for several days, at least until the Mango Mussolini again says or does something stupid. That shouldn't take long.
