Happy Veterans Day

It's Veterans Day. Get ready for all those meaningless shout outs to those who served.

Happy Veterans Day! Thanks to those who served to protect our freedoms! Hug a Vet!

Every year, and rightly so, Veterans Day is a time for American citizens to thank those who served in the military to protect the freedoms our flag represents.

Today, I say save it.

Save your false appreciation for veterans. Save your disingenuous appreciation for those who protected the rights of American citizens to chase their dreams.

On Tuesday, nearly 60,000,000 people voted for Donald Trump to become our next president.

That's 60 million people who chose a man that disrespected John McCain and other prisoners of war when he said on live TV, "I like people who weren't captured."

That's 60 million American citizens who voted for a man that disrespected the family of a soldier who gave his life in defense of the American dream because that solider was a Muslim.

Those nearly 60 million votes were an endorsement of Trump's disrespect.

Furthermore, the American people voted to give the Republican Party continued control of the House of Representatives and Senate.

That's a political party whose platform includes stripping the rights of Americans to marry whom they choose and to unionize.

If we're voting for candidates who plan to strip Americans of their civil and Constitutional rights, are we really honoring the veterans who fought to protect those rights?

Today, just keep quiet.
