Springsteen releases new tune

Bruce Springsteen recently released a new song from his upcoming album entitled, "Western Stars."
In his memoir, "Born to Run," Springsteen wrote about his inspiration for the album.
“This is where the country opens up and things get a little weird,” he said about a Western road trip in the early 1980s. “As Sisyphus can count on the rock, I can always count on the road, the music, and the miles for whatever ails me.”
That ailment was the realization that despite his success, The Boss struggled from depression.

Hello Sunshine is the first song released from Springsteen's 19th studio album but his first in five years.

The song's music video features the narrator cruising through the Mojave Desert in a classic Chevrolet El Camino SS 454.

Springsteen loves his muscle cars.

Hello Sunshine is a bit of a cross between an old blues tune and today's more commercialized country music.

It's also reminiscent of the slower tracks found on the Nebraska or The Ghost of Tom Joad albums.

Always the storyteller, Springsteen digs deep into his emotions to share his personal journey through the desert. Whether that journey through the desert was literal or a metaphor is left to the listener.

Had enough of heartbreak and pain
I had a little sweet spot for the rain
For the rain and skies of gray
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
You know I always liked my walking shoes
But you can get a little too fond of the blues
You walk too far, you walk away
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
You know I always loved a lonely town
Those empty streets, no one around
You fall in love with lonely, you end up that way
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
You know I always liked that empty road
No place to be and miles to go
But miles to go is miles away
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
And miles to go is miles away
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
Hello sunshine
"I have come close enough to [mental illness] where I know I am not completely well myself," Springsteen told Esquire Magazine in 2018.

Had enough of heartbreak and pain
I had a little sweet spot for the rain
For the rain and skies of gray
Hello sunshine, won't you stay

Heartbreak and pain, two common themes in much of Springsteen's work spanning the last 50-plus years.

Hello sunshine, won't you stay

Is sunshine a person? Is it a feeling?

We all experience the rain. We all need a ray of sunshine.
