Fat stoners can now join the military

The military is moving to allow fat stoners to join the service.

Recently we were inundated with patriotic messages, all related to Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel for the National Anthem.

Sadly, that patriotism extends only to a Facebook status.

The military is having trouble recruiting new soldiers and as a result it looks like the bar is going to be lowered for new recruits.

According to a military.com story:
"Among the benchmarks that will get new scrutiny: fitness standards, marijuana use, tattoo regulations and the military’s longtime reluctance to allow single parents to start military careers."
Defense Secretary Ash Carter said there are some standards that won't be compromised but the quotas have to be filled and new boots have to be filled.

"Carter also announced a $140 million advertising campaign to improve the military’s brand among young people throughout all regions of the country, and an effort to improve the ROTC program that trains about 40 percent of incoming military officers."

This strikes me as odd.

So many people talk about patriotism--especially when the discussion revolves around a person of color standing up or speaking out about injustice here in this country--yet we're having trouble finding people willing to fight for our freedoms?

The Army isn't going to allow a grossly obese  person to join but the standards are going to change a bit.

Military service also isn't going to address the tatted up recruits the same way either, although I'm guessing those with Nazi tattoos on their forehead will still be passed over for enlistment.

Marijuana use always has been frowned upon, but now even that could change.

"Rules regarding recruits marijuana usage also are getting a new look. As thousands of prospective recruits are now living in states where medical and recreational marijuana is now legal, Carter is instructing top personnel officials to consider pilot programs to 'assess the feasibility and impact of updated standards' on the issue of 'past marijuana use,' according to a fact sheet provided by the military."

So, we're going to see lowered standards for enlistment. What are all you patriots waiting for? Walk the talk.
