NPR Tiny Desk Concerts: Meg Myers

I'm a big fan of musical artists who perform with passion and intensity. In addition to hearing the lyrics, I want to feel them. I want to be moved by the song. Meg Myers checks off all the boxes for me.

Ever since I saw the Cranberries perform as part of NPR's Small Desk Concerts, I've been hooked on regularly checking out the site to see who else has performed.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Meg Myers take the "stage."

Her raspy voice, intense glares and powerful lyrics allow me to feel what she's feeling and felt when she wrote the songs.

That's what music is to me. It's the same with a good book. If the artist or author is successful, the reader/listener is transposed into another time and place.

This is from her website:
"Meg Myers is collapsed like a broken ragdoll on her hardwood floors in her Los Angeles apartment — crying uncontrollable, feeling something she's never felt before. It's that kind of cry you don't even wish upon your worst enemies — the kind that comes from that hidden place where all your demons are trying to break free."
We've all been there. Meg Myers brings that place to life through her lyrics and music.

Check her out. You just might like her. Definitely click that link above to listen to the Cranberries. Dolores O'Riordan's voice will definitely be missed.
