Arm yourselves?

I just finished reading this story on CNN regarding the Colorado movie theater shooting.

As disgusted as I am by the actions of the shooter, reading the comments below the story it's obvious there are a bunch of knuckleheads out there.

We're going to hear from both sides of the gun control issue, at least until there's something else to discuss, and hopefully we don't legislate based on the opinions of some of CNN's readers.

One reader who believes in carrying concealed weapons offered up this nugget:
Here's another scenario. I'm sitting in a theater, 3 rows in front of me a man stands up and starts shooting. Immediately I access my pistol, stand up and then end his life. He has killed 2 people, but twelve others will go home alive. You do the math.
As heroic as that sounds, it's more likely the good samaritan becomes the victim of another innocent bystander.

Think about it, the bad guy stands up in a dark theater and starts shooting random people. Good samaritan draws his weapon and shoots the bad guy. Another good samaritan, not knowing the second shooter was a good guy, opens fire and shoots him. Then another good samaritan stands up and shoots...where does it end?

We don't know who is involved in the evil plot...but we want to stand up and start shooting because it's our right!

Yikes...we're in a lot of trouble.
